Get To Know 4 Skin Allergies Caused By Weather. What To Do?

Allergies can occur when the body encounters a foreign substance and characterize it as an invader or health hazard and fight it. One way to fight the presumed harmful allergen, the immune system produces more histamine and develops skin allergies. Weather and season can develop different effects. And the following skin allergies caused by weather are some examples.

Hay Fever

Hay fever is pretty known as a seasonal allergy, which appears in various responses. Most of the time it happens during the summer days when pollen appears more in hot and dry weather. The main allergens such as pollens (including tree, weed, or grass), dust mites, pet hair, fungi, cigarette smokes, or mold spores.

Most of the time the irritants were airborne, which lead to seasonal or year-round allergies. But again, it depends on the specific triggers. The main sign and symptoms are itchiness which feels like spreading from the throat to the nose and eyes. Some also followed with red patches, itchy skin, and eyes. You can treat this condition with antihistamine sprays or tablets.

Eczema is also among the very common skin allergies caused by weather. It is a recurrent inflammatory skin disease, caused by pollen, extreme weather, mold, high and low humidity, sweat, animal dander, or dust mites. The condition is pretty common, which makes it easier to treat and address. The key is to properly know the condition.

The main indication of eczema is itchy and scaly patches, red or brownish bumpy rashes, blister, and dry skin. You can ease the rash with a topical corticosteroid, ointment, creams, antihistamines, systemic corticosteroids, barrier repair moisturizers, or similar meds. It is mostly seen on hidden skin areas, which makes it harder to treat with topical medications.

Urticaria or hives is characterized by itchy plaques, shaped as round or flat top and slightly raised skin. The condition can be caused by various factors, including weather conditions such as extreme or changing temperature, pollen, or sun exposure. But skin allergies caused by weather can also happen due to some foods, animal dander, or dust mites.

You can see the condition from visible raised red or pink rash, and plaque on the arms, hands, face, or legs. The rash can range from several millimeters to inches. Urticaria has a more severe condition, so the treatment is more than just topical. It includes antihistamines, a biologic drug, epinephrine injection, corticosteroids, or avoiding food that triggers the allergy.

Skin Asthma

Atopic dermatitis is a chronic inflammatory skin condition. It has scaly skin, itchy raises, redness, patches, and several defects in the skin’s protective barrier. It can be caused by pollen, dust, heat, cold, dry, smoke, or dander. Compared to other skin allergies caused by weather, it is bound to appear extremely affected. But the treatment can be skincare, ointment, medication, or lifestyle changes. Don’t underestimate the condition of skin allergies. Many are triggered for something simple, and the weather can flare up the condition by pollen or mold spores. To make it worst, adults can develop allergies as an adult. Be aware of the condition, get a check from a doctor, or prevent the allergy from flare-ups. Allergies are not something you can simply fix.
